About the School
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]We at Banham Community Primary School are proud that we help each individual child to be the best that they can be. We are lucky to have caring, friendly, committed staff, parents and governors. We want all our children to be happy, safe learners who try their best and enjoy achieving their goals and learning new skills.
Our curriculum is fun, exciting and relevant to prepare children for the type of skills that they might need in the future. Children “respond very positively to their varied and imaginative learning opportunities” (Ofsted, 2013). We can offer a wide range of facilities from an large playing field including Willow Walk, Wildlife Area and Trim Trail; well resourced playground with pagoda; fantastic outdoor classroom; well stocked library; IPads, Apple TV and interactive whiteboards. The school was extended in 2007 to cater for growing numbers.
We are very proud of our Year 6 SATS results. The progress and attainment of our children is consistently near the top of Norfolk and Regional schools which was reflected in our Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ grade. Our results also show that the children learn well through the school, through engaging teaching, focussed adult support and excellent resources.
Following on from traditionally strong KS2 results, with regularly consistent placing in the top 5% of Norfolk schools and the top 10% of schools in the East of England in terms of the progress children make at school, our KS2 results under the new SATs regime have continued to reflect well on the progress children make in the school. Up to date information can be found in the ‘Statutory Information’ section of this website.
We are equally proud of the many other achievements that reflect the rich and varied provision we are able to offer at our school. We hold a variety of Quality Marks. The school’s ‘School Games’ award was given in recognition of the wide variety of sporting activities and clubs which we offer, and we have recently retained the ‘Silver’ Sports Award. We encourage both pupils and staff to be healthy and hold the Silver ‘Enhanced’ Healthy Schools Award, the International School Award, and are a designated PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) school.
Since September 2014, we are proud to have been a founding member of both the Acorn Co-operative Learning Alliance with other local schools, and the Encompass Inclusive Teaching School. Both of these strengthen our practice and place us in a central position in terms of offering support to other local schools. In November 2016 we academised as part of the ‘Co-operative Education East’ Academy Trust.
We strongly encourage mums, dads and carers to take an active role in our school. The Friends of Banham School (FOBS) work tirelessly for the benefit of the pupils, and hold a variety of fundraising events through the year including a very successful Quiz Night and Summer Picnic. They have in recent years purchased IPads, a Cycle Shelter and Scooter Rack for the school.
If you are interested in enrolling your child at our school we would be delighted to show you around and answer any queries you may have! A school prospectus is also available from the school office.
